Our Story

Camp for the Culture was created by two moms, Kerri Harper-Howie and Ebony Roberts, after their 13-year-old sons went away for the first time to sleep away camp. The boys went to two different camps, and there was just a handful of Black faces in a group of 100+ campers. Kerri and Ebony knew they couldn't be alone in wanting their children to experience the excitement of sleep away camp with children who look like them—and the idea for Camp for the Culture was born.

Kerri and Ebony's goal is to provide a space for Black families to enjoy the outdoors and create memories that will last a lifetime.
